Snow at the Kraft Korner house!

This week the West Midlands has been hit by storm Goretti and we’ve seen loads of snow, leading to school closures and generally more difficulty getting around! We’ve decided to stay indoors for most of the week, but we had to go make a snowman of course!

Obviously we had to go out in the snow fully prepared, and so we simply HAD to wear some Kraft Korner items! Mum wore a matching jumper and hat, and Niamh wore a lovely green hat and gloves combo. Me (Aine), I stayed inside because I have a terrible cold! We have sooo many hats, gloves and jumpers on our website available to purchase, just like these lovely items in the photos.

Kraft Korner Workshops

Kraft Korner jewellery making workshops are my favourite thing to do! I have been fortunate enough to teach a few people already how to make jewellery, as seen in these photos! Depicted are some snaps of a workshop I ran with my friends Abby and Peter at The Table café in Walsall, where we all experimented with inspiration from Pinterest to make necklaces, bracelets and even earrings! I had such a lovely time and it was so lovely to have some jewellery to show for it at the end, which we still wear to this day! I have also run workshops at a parents coffee morning at a school in Birmingham and I am looking to do so many more.

I love sharing my passion for jewellery making with others, so if you are interested in learning some jewellery skills, email me on the.kraftcorner@yahoo.com or text 07872343791 to get in touch!

Kraft Korner fashion statements

We- and by we, I mean mum Kraft Korner- made this long granny square  cardigan as a comission for Jenny, another stall holder at Droitwich Market. She asked for a long ‘coat’ like cardigan in emerald green with some random splashes of colour, and I think it’s safe to say we delivered! She didn’t want any buttons to fasten the coat, so the cardigan hangs loose so we can still see her lovely outfit underneath! I was especially in love with this piece because emerald green is my favourite colour!

I think these colours suit Jenny’s hair absolutely perfectly and the splashes of colour mean that it has a special feature but not so special that we can’t appreciate that lovely green! This piece took about 24 hours to complete in total, but don’t worry, we didn’t do this all in one go! It was completed over the course of a few evenings, and it was slightly quicker than the normal granny cardigan because there were less colours, so less yarn ends to sew into the squares! If you’re interested in commisioning a piece from us, get in touch! Our socials are at the top of the blog and my email is the.kraftcorner@yahoo.com 😊

In other news…

I may have forgotten to introduce a fourth member of The Kraft Korner team in our previous blog. Allow me now to introduce to you the star of the family, Sparky! Sparky is almost 13 years old and you can guarantee that whatever piece of jewellery or crochet we have made, Sparky has probably been snoozing next to us making it! He is a cross between a border collie and an australian shepherd and he often accompanies us at craft markets, attracting customers with his beautiful blue eyes! We absolutely love him to bits (and he knows it!)

Here Sparky is wearing his very own crocheted dog bandana! Blue to match his eyes of course. We have a few more dog bandanas available, drop us a message or visit our stall for some more info!

What a cutie!

Tunisian Crochet

Although we would love to do The Kraft Korner full time, myself, my sister and our mum have jobs outside of this little business to keep things running. Fiona (mum) is an assistant head teacher at a special needs school, Niamh is at university full time and I have a part time job as a barista. We spend pretty much all of our time outside of work, however, working super hard to make The Kraft Korner what it is! Here’s a picture of my tunisian crochet, which I was doing on my lunch break recently 😊

Thank you for reading our second blog edition! See you next time!
