Diary of The Kraft Korner

Blog 1

Welcome to the very first edition of ‘Diary of The Kraft Korner’, a blog/newsletter where we share all the ups and downs of owning a small handmade crafts business! We hope you enjoy…

Meet The Makers!!

The Kraft Korner is a family team of mother and daughters. I’m Aine (left) – I started the business making jewellery and was joined by my sister Niamh (middle) and mum Fiona (right) to complete the team!

How did the Kraft Korner business begin?

The Kraft Korner began in 2020 during lockdown! At the time I was studying for my A levels and my sister was doing her GCSEs (from home of course!). As we were working from home like everyone else, we found it hard to distinguish time between ‘school’ and ‘home’ as they were the same place- so, we set time aside after ‘school’ to get creative! We have always been a creative family, and we found it such a good way to wind down and stay busy during the months that we were in lockdown. We really appreciated the mindfulness it provided, as well as an outlet for creativity!

Initially, The Kraft Korner was all about earrings – it was all the stock I had! But my passion for jewellery making soon grew, and before long I was making rings, necklaces, bracelets and even today I find new things to make all the time (hair accessories, bookmarks, all sorts!).

Although I was really enjoying the start to my new small business venture (and enjoying the creative outlet during lockdown), something was missing. I could see my mum and sister crocheting so many lovely blankets, hats and teddies and had to get them on board with The Kraft Korner! They were very excited to join and soon we had the full team: my jewellery makes and their crochet creations. With all three of us on board, The Kraft Korner became the small business you see today.

We have thoroughly enjoyed sharing our creations with people so far and can’t wait to continue – our hope is that through this blog, our customers can learn more about us and our family business. Stay for a while, have a read and get to know us some more! I’m so happy to share our creation story with you.

Splash! Yarn jumper

As mum and Niamh are the expert crocheters in The Kraft Korner, it was only so long before I started to learn myself! I am the jewellery maker in the business but I wanted to learn something new, so I started with some knitting, before moving onto tunisian crochet and, finally, crochet!

This jumper is the first crochet garment I sold! I crocheted the large granny squares and Mum Kraft Korner crocheted them together with black yarn for the main structure of the garment as well as the cuffs. A wonderful lady at Droitwich market purchased this piece at the beginning of August and it made my day to sell it!

Where do we sell our products?

We advertise and sell our Kraft Korner creations both online and in person! You can find our social media on the first page of this blog.

Instagram is probably my favourite social media to advertise products and I am always happy to discuss sales in my DMs should you drop me a message!
Facebook is another popular social media for The Kraft Korner and you can like our page/join our group to keep up to date on all of our latest!
Tiktok is another really popular platform to use to advertise The Kraft Korner! You can find me on @the.kraft.korner over there to see my latest videos showing off all my products!
The main place to buy from The Kraft Korner is on our website! I am currently working on updating it with all of our new stock, and taking down things that have been sent off to happy customers! Ideally we will be making all of our sales on this website, so if you want to buy from us, shop here!
Etsy is a very popular platform to buy handmade items, and so of course we have to have an account over there. You can find us under ‘TheKraftKornerShop’ and, much like the website, we are updating it with all of our new stock very soon! I like Etsy because the reviews are visible which is super useful for new customers. The only downside is the listing costs!
Aaaaand last but not least, we sell our Kraft Korner products in person at craft markets! You can find us at Droitwich Market most Fridays and the second Saturday of every month, and in between those we do other craft fayres ad hoc which we will keep you updated on over on our socials or on this blog.

Thank you for reading our first Kraft Korner blog! See you next time!
